HIGHLIGHTS

2023:

  • Developing a new feature film script with writer/director Claudia Myers.

  • Awarded a playwriting residency at Casa Uno in Costa Rica and spends three weeks developing the first draft of the new Martha Graham play.

  • In Northampton MA, Nancy revives her role as Jude in a new iteration of an existing play. Adapted from the off-Broadway play Occupied TerritoriesFor Jude tells the story of two adult sisters reckoning with their legacy as children of a Vietnam Veteran on the night of their father’s funeral. The powerful story integrates live performance with the artwork of Home/War/Home, creating a dynamic experience of theater and visual art. Nancy plays alongside the extraordinary actor, Lauren Kamaran.

  • Awarded a 2023 DC Arts and Humanities Fellowship

  • After teaching as an adjunct faculty member for four years, Nancy accepts a full time position in American University’s Department of Performing Arts, Theatre/Musical Theatre Program. She teaches a variety of courses including Introduction to Acting, Scene Study, Playwriting, Theatre Matters - Introduction to Alternative Theatre Practices and creates new theatrical work on the students.

  • Receives the Princess Grace Foundation Special Projects Grant for the development of Diversion of Angels, an evening length play about dancer/choreographer/visionary Martha Graham and the highly charged intersection of her personal life and her creative genius in the 1940s. Borrowing the title from Martha’s extraordinary dance about love, the play will compress time to follow Martha's tumultuous creative and personal relationships with her primary lovers and confidantes, musician Louis Horst and dancer Erick Hawkins, through the creation and premiere of her renowned dance, Diversion of Angels.

2022:

  • As an actor, Nancy is in The Approach in the Capital Fringe Festival

  • Leads a semester long script-to-screen filmmaking workshop for the Wyo Theater based in Sheridan, Wyoming and continues to teach acting at American University and Studio Acting Conservatory.

  • Awarded a 2022 DC Arts and Humanities Fellowship

2021: 

  • Develops multiple feature and episodic scripts

  • Begins developing a feature film project with 3 young women from the Crow community in Montana.

  • Blood screens at MBIFF in October. Wins Audience Award.

  • Directs readings of 2 selected short screenplays for a live and virtual audience at MBIFF.

2020:

  • Nancy teams up with Jared Mezzochi for the Trump Hotel Activism Project - Aug 24 -Nov 5, 2020, nightly projections of the ever-rising Covid death toll onto the facade of the Trump Hotel in Washington DC.

  • Kyra, Who Got Away screens at MBIFF November 7

  • Her animated feature film script, Willow, is selected for New York Stage and Film’s 2020 Filmmakers Workshop. A timid 8 year old girl leaves her house in the middle of the night in search of her self-centered, neglectful (and relapsing) mom and goes on a magical journey where she learns she’s stronger than she thinks she is, she has a powerful voice inside her and it’s okay to call things out when they’re not right.
